About the project

The prophesy of the Eagle and the Condor is several thousand years old and is told throughout the Andes Mountains and as far north as Arizona and New Mexico in the United States. The people of the Eagle have been seen as the people of possession and of the mind while the people of the Condor have been seen as the people of the heart and of the land. It was prophesized that the people of the Eagle would dominate the people of the Condor for a period of 500 years, what they called a "pachacuti", then after a twenty year period of rapid change and upheaval the people of the Eagle and Condor would fly in the sky together. This website is about gathering the people and learning to fly together in the skies of a post petroleum and war torn world.

"Condor People" is a project dedicated to the preservation and protection of endangered wild lands, biodiversity and indigenous cultures, for the benefit of all Beings. The gap between the industrial society and the natural world has reached a level of separation that is threatening life on Earth and indigenous cultures have information vital to our times and world condition. Condor People will be a bridge between the modern world and the ancestral cultures of North and South America. Understanding that the work is not for us, we will not cross this bridge, it is for our children and is their's to walk. Our primary purposes are to protect primary rainforest and the indigenous people who live there, to gather, protect and properly disseminate native wisdom, to help reconnect industrialized people to the natural world, to help balance technological creativity with insight and compassion and to empower the indigenous Peoples. We intend to do this by developing our ecological reserve along the Cangaimi River in Southeastern Ecuador, The Morona Eco-Reserve, and using it as a multi-cultural learning, education and research center for the native peoples, students, researchers and for ethno-cultural tourism.

There is no precedent that gives us any insight into what we can accomplish by combining the earth honoring wisdom of the indigenous peoples and the technical creativity of modern man. We lack the creative imagination to envision the full potential of humans, individually and collectively. What we could achieve is greater than what any civilization that has come before us has achieved and our descendants could live the most fulfilling lives ever lived by humans. This would be a tremendous legacy to leave them and Condor People will explore, work, and play to help create an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling and socially just human presence on Mother Earth.
